Are you staying in a country any longer than 90 Days?
Have you organised your Visas?
Generally, Australians, American, Canadian and New Zealand tourists planning to spend less than a total of 90 days (within a six month period) in the 'Schengen area' do not require visas for countries which are parties to the Schengen Convention.
The following countries are parties to the Schengen Convention: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
It is important to get your passport stamped when entering the Schengen area. The absence of an entry stamp from the initial Schengen port of entry could result in a fine or create difficulties during subsequent encounters with local police or other authorities throughout the Schengen area.
If you're working however that is a totally different ball game. You will need to contact the embassy of the country you intend to work in and organise a working visa.
Generally a working visa will permit you to work for a year. In the UK for example you can access a Working Holiday Maker visa which allows you to stay a total of 2 years but work only 1 year in total of that 2 year period.
You may also be eligble finding out if you have ancestors from that country as you may be entitled to an Ancestry Visa. These European visa may allow you to stay up to around 5 years.
If your parents are from the country in question you may even be able to obtain a European passport allowing to stay as long as you like, coming and going as you please.
Some countries however require your father to be the person from that country, unfortunately for me that was the case with obtaining an Italian passport. My dad was an Aussie and my mum was naturalised Australian before a certain date. Therefore I missed out on these awesome passports.
